Influenza vaccination subsidies

As part of its health activities, the Health Insurance Society provides subsidies for influenza vaccinations.

Eligible persons Insured persons (members) and dependents (family members)
Vaccination/application period October 1 – December 31
  • * Any changes in these dates will be announced on the Society website and elsewhere.
Subsidy amount Actual cost (up to 5,000 yen/vaccination)
Number of vaccinations covered
  • 13 or older: one vaccination
  • Below 13: up to two vaccinations
  • * Ages shown are ages as of the vaccination date.
Method
  • Group vaccinations (provided by the employer at some establishments)
  • *The employer will announce detailed information concerning group vaccinations.
  • Individual vaccinations (obtained by visiting hospital or other facility on your own)
  • * Vaccinations conducted by municipal governments are also included in individual vaccinations.
How to apply
  • Group vaccinations: No procedures required
  • Individual vaccinations: Details of how to apply will be announced on the Society website, in Better Health (Health Insurance News), and elsewhere.
  • * You must apply via MY HEALTH WEB. If you have not yet registered with MY HEALTH WEB, be sure to complete initial registration before applying.
What you will need to apply You must attach a receipt when applying. (You cannot apply with a document other than a receipt, such as a credit card statement.)
  • * If you have lost the receipt, have it reissued.
Notes on applying
  • You cannot receive the subsidy without a receipt.
  • Receipts will not be accepted if they are incomplete.
    You cannot receive the subsidy if the receipt does not show all five of the following items:
    ① Name of medical care institution
    ② Name of recipient (not company name)
    ③ Date
    ④ Amount
    ⑤ The fact that the receipt is for an influenza vaccination
  • The Society will check with the insured person (or applicant) if the application is incomplete. If this happens, respond promptly.
  • Applications submitted after the application period will not be accepted for any reason.
  • The subsidy covers only vaccines approved in Japan.
  • Costs of vaccinations received overseas are not eligible for the subsidy.
Payment method
  • The subsidy will be remitted to each individual’s salary account two or more months after the month in which you submit the application.
  • For Voluntarily and Continuously Insured Persons, the subsidy will be remitted to each individual’s bank account.
How to check the subsidy amount
  • You can check the amount on the medical care information page of MY HEALTH WEB.
  • For employees of Takeda Pharmaceutical, the subsidy amount will appear in the pay statement as “Health insurance and other benefits.”
