Not just affecting the mouth, periodontal disease is known to promote various conditions throughout the body, including diabetes and hardening of the arteries.
Fighting periodontal disease is vital to preventing and controlling lifestyle-related conditions.
Beginning in FY2023, to encourage dental examinations administered by a patient's regular dentist, the Society eliminated the previous system of group dental examinations and free dental examinations and launched a new program whereby insured persons receive subsidies for the cost of dental examinations (copayments) provided by their preferred dentist.
